One Monday per month (on hiatus till January 2010)

Motion Choir

Dance has a long history as a spiritual expression. Globally, it knows no boundaries and belongs to all cultures. From biblical times, dance in conjunction with music or percussive beats has been part of worship. Just as we include music in our worship services, we are now starting to include movement. Liturgical dance is movement set to hymns or songs which are appropriate for worship services, or movement which accompanies readings. It is primarily simple, coordinated gestures and, while helpful, no dance experience is required.  All shapes, sizes, genders, and ages are welcome.

Location: Chapel

Facilitators: Carla Hillyard and Karen Klein

Monthly

Spirituality Reading and Study Group

This reading and study group is focused on a variety of the literature of spirituality.

For 2009-10, we are reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau.

We meet once a month for ten months, reading one chapter each month and discussing the ideas.  This schedule will help us focus more deeply on the material.  And for those of you with a busy life, this is a good way to fit in a spiritual discussion without too much pain.

If you have questions, please contact Meredith Ruland or Morgan Wilson.  If you have a friend who would be interested, they are welcome.  And, please let Meredith Ruland know if you are interested in joining us so you can be added to the list to be notified of what is going on.

Location: Harrington Room

Facilitators:  Morgan Wilson and Meredith Ruland
