Lifespan Education

"We have a strong faith in the inherent spirituality of children and see it as our task to nurture, not to indoctrinate. Our respect for the children teaches them respect ÷ for themselves, for others, and for this fragile interdependent web of which we are all a part." - Gaia Brown

Our religious education program provides a broad knowledge of our faith and others. It also nurtures the individual and creates fellowship in the unique Unitarian Universalist experience.

Our curricula for preschool through middle school children are theme-based. These themes include: Unitarian Universalist Identity, Hebrew Bible, New Testament, World Religions, Social Action/Justice, the Interdependent Web of Life, and a Winter Holiday Pageant.

Several times during the year we bring our UU principles to life with community service and social action projects.

Children depart for classes from the sanctuary after the intergenerational part of the service around 10:50 am. Classes meet until 11:45 am.

We offer Sunday evening meetings for Senior Youth Group. The group plans and participates in social activities, social justice projects, worship, and local and district youth conferences. All youth in high school are invited to participate, and newcomers are always welcome.

This year we are having a Coming of Age program for seventh through twelfth graders. Working with a mentor, each young person will focus on their own spiritual identity. This is an opportunity to explore spiritual questions in depth.
