Ministries

For over three hundred years First Parish has been serving the city of Waltham and surrounding towns through a variety of ministries. Whether you are a seeker of understanding or of service opportunities, there is a place for every member of your family here.

YOUTH - our youth group is an enthusiastic bunch of mostly junior high folks who meet weekly with an advisor. they are working on their own page, but for now, here are the basics.

MISSIONS - for more than forty years First Parish has operated a Clothing Exchange. We are proud, too, of our Waltham Day Care Center, our coffeehouse, and food kitchen. Since 1997, we have been a Welcoming Congregation for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people.

MUSIC and the ARTS - when our city's Waltham Mill artists were threatened with eviction, we lobbied in their support, and we continue to seek to make a large place in our society for the many artists and musicians who worship among us.

LIFESPAN EDUCATION - the faith or every child and adult deserves to be nurtured and needs to grow in understanding. We seek to find the truth in love and to help one another in our spiritual quests. We welcome persons of all faiths and philosophies.

LAY MINISTERS PROGRAM - First Parish in Waltham is a caring church. It is our tradition to care for each other during sad and happy times. As our church has grown, it has become necessary to increase the capacity of our pastoral presence to members. The Lay Ministers Program, established in the fall of 2000, is an effort to do so.
